Meet Our Founder

Modupe (Dupe) Awolola

BA (Ed), MSc Human Resource Management, NASENCo

SEND Consultant · Educator · Speaker & Trainer

With almost 30 years in education, Dupe founded Budding Gems to bring together educational expertise, specialist SEND knowledge and practical support for children, families and professionals. She has held leadership roles including Deputy Headteacher, Assistant Headteacher and SENCo.

Alongside her professional expertise, she brings the insight of lived experience as the parent of a daughter with complex additional needs. This perspective shapes the way Budding Gems supports families — with expertise, empathy and a genuine understanding of the journey.

Dupe is also the author of the forthcoming children's book, I Am Tinu, created to celebrate neurodiversity, raise awareness of SEND and help children feel seen, understood and valued. She is particularly passionate about raising awareness of SEND within Black Diaspora and faith communities while supporting families from all backgrounds.
